    70 hours into the game and I've got to say AC Odyssey surprised me positively! As an action-rpg game it does many things perfectly. Even though it takes a bit of grinding at some points and things could sort of get repetitive, I find myself enjoying all aspects of the game. The map is huge, so I suggest you move immediately if a certain place seems to bore you, you can always come back easily.

    A much better game than Origins in every respect. While I found Origins boring and tedious, Odyssey has me hooked.

    The game world is huge and there is tons to do. The main quest is engaging, as are many of the side quests. The historic setting is interesting as well.

    I really enjoyed this game and it's hard to see how Ubisoft could have done anything better.

    One of the best Assassin's Creed games, 10x better than Valhalla; the graphics were great, the gameplay was awesome, and it's perhaps the only game ever to showcase Ancient Greece realistically in all of its ancient glory. Highly recommend this one; the only reason it doesn't have a 10 is because the story overall was decent but didn't push the bar.

    One of the best Assassin's Creed games, even if you are a fan of the old ones there is ton of fun to have here, but what Ubisoft force you behind micro transactions is a down side.

    This is a fantastic game that really brought me on board with what the franchise has been doing throughout its approximately ten years prior to the release of Odyssey. Before this entry in the franchise, I had only played Assassin's Creed II, and found myself sadly bored, wondering why I didn't click with a game that had received so much praise from others who had played the game. But Odyssey, with its massive open world, was what I personally wanted from an Assassin's Creed game.

    Odyssey is not necessarily perfect, and to some extent, I tend to agree with much of the criticisms levelled at the game. Its open world feels a bit bloated at times, and its combat is good, though not necessarily excellent. However, I felt that while these things did drag down the overall experience significantly, the game still shone in many areas. It has a solid story, and the gear system is fairly good as well. What elevates all these average aspects is the sheer volume of content available to players. And while individual players' mileage may vary, I truly did enjoy my time with the game.

    Odyssey might alienate former fans of the franchise, but I personally found myself greatly enjoying the formula that was first introduced in Origins and refined here. I would recommend the game to any fan of open-world action RPGs, with the caveat that it may not reach the highs of other games within the genre.    … Expand

    Yes, the Odyssey hasn't a lot of changes but it's a big, very big game. Many resources have been invested to create that game and it's not ok to blame the game because it's big and took plenty of resources.

    It's a good single-player game you could spend more than 100 hours on it. I've beat the main story in about 40 hours but am still playing it because of DLC and some side quests – I want to know who is the main cultist.

    So kindly recommend to all who likes single player 3rd person action/adventure games.

    Amazing game all around! After 320 hours, got Platinum Trophy and finished all the DLCs, I can safely say that Odyssey was the most enjoyable game that I've played in the last 5 years.

    Fun and varied gameplay, the abilities really come into play and they are fun to use, I always recommend switching between them and not using just the best/meta ones.     Combat may feel floaty at first, but it's because of the weapons used. I also used swords and spears, until I realized they have to feel light. When switching to heavier weapons, it became more satisfying.

    Naval battles are super fun, yet lack realism.

    For people complaining about the lack of guaranteed assassination, there's a skill which you unlock later and which gives you direct asssassination for 90% of the enemies.

    I have never been underleveled. If you explore the beautiful world and do all the side quests (I mean narrative ones, not the radiant ones) you won't have any problems.

    The world is absolutely gorgeous. My only complaint is that, while it feels alive, you can't interact much with it. Social stealth, interactive objects, animals petting, a mini-game etc. would've been amazing.

    I loved Kassandra as a protagonist. She's great IMO, top4 AC protagonists, and since you get to make the decisions, it adds more depth. Also, I'll get this straight: her design is great, she's beautiful (and I think we should appreciate this since attractive females are becoming more and more rare in tripleA western RPGs). Still, there is one problem: the lack of character development, or very few of it.

    I got this game for free using the PS Plus, it is just as Origins but in Greece.
    I definitely recommend playing on normal or easy difficulty since the combat basically means that your enemies have much more hp and deal more dmg. For example if you play on hard and try to fight a mercenary with 2 lvls above you, you have to perma hit him for 15-20 minutes, while you die in 2 hits. That is so bad, because it happens even if you have full legendary items.
    Also to note that you can modify the settings so that your enemies scale with you.
    I also advice you play as Kassandra, she has better voice acting and story makes more sense.

    As other have said, it is a gigantic game and can become repetitive. Upgrading items is costly.
    They managed to make a vibrant Greece and a nice vibe, and the protagonist is awesome. I am at 80 hours and I don't think I will do the DLCs.    … Expand

    Odyssey is my favorite of the recent Assassin's Creed games by far. The setting isn't as good as Origins, but Odyssey's story is much, much better than Origins (and so is the combat) and kept me hooked until the end. Played as Kasandra and loved her family-focused story and even loved Legacy of the First Blade DLC.

    Kassandra is better than any other assassin so far. Her voice actor killed it. I'm not sure anyone could of done better. She's pretty yet fierce. Also this game has the best AC story and finally introduced a good story element for future games. Unfortunately Valhalla is a sad step back. They stripped Eivor of the feminine qualities Kassandra has. The    The Best one as of now, by a longshot.

    I don´t understand hate for this game. I absolutely love greek world and this game is just so good at showing the world back then. You can meet great characters in history. Gameplay is fun with supernatural abilities and graphics are really nice too. This game especially shines in dialogues which there are so many because of lots of quests its like a big movie.     Possibly one of my favourite games to date. This game has some of the best fighting mechanics for an open world game that I've seen. The story is fairly badass for the revenge aspect and the different decisions that can be made feel like they have a meaningful impact on the ending. my only criticism of the game must be the use of the Assassins creed title as origins and odyssey couldPossibly one of my favourite games to date.     Un juego con luces y sombras, el mapa es alucinante, una maravilla en PS4, la exploración es satisfactoria, y la historia a veces alucinante, pero se vuelve repetitivo hasta aburrir, pero no es justo quedarse con eso

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Got the game after hearing that people consider it the weakest Assassin Creed game. I originally came into the came with a negative mindset but playing through it, the game became one of the most fun games i’ve played this year. The combat is really fun and the story is decent. I say the story is decent because the ending didn’t feel fulfilling for me. I got the happy/best ending but it didn’t feel like it. I also wish the cult of kosmos members you hunt down played a bigger role and i wish the enemies weren’t so damage spongey. I also expected the main antagonist to play a larger role but they would only show up in cutscenes and we rarely get to see them outside of that.… Expand

    Geat game very good graphics and story combat is awesome but there's something wrong with difficulty cuz it was too easy compared to assassins creed origins but you can simply fix that but choosing higher difficulty

    I love Kassandra and her journey. She's a funny, sarcastic woman and I love her accent. Xena was my childhood series and oh my god, Kassandra is just like her. I'm so happy Ubisoft decided to give me the option to choose a female character. I loved assassin's series since the first one. I always liked the protagonists, so morally complex, driven by vengeance, money, pain. I have so muchI love Kassandra and her journey. She's a funny, sarcastic woman and I love her accent. I always liked the protagonists, so morally complex, driven by vengeance, money, pain. I have so much fun in ancient Greece. It's a beautiful, enormous world they created and with so much detail it's insane. Looking at all the historical places in-game after visiting Greece years ago it's such a cool feeling. I felt like a kid again playing it, excited to see what the next island brings. I love the naval battles. AC IV was my favourite before Odyssey and being able to command a ship once again gives me butterflies. I truly felt a sense of progress while leveling up and focusing on my assassin damage. I struggled a lot on hard difficulty in the begging but later truly felt powerful. This game is blessings for a 30year old me after hard day at work. It relaxes me as much as sailing through the West Indies as captain Kenway. 10/10.… Expand

    If you loved the first 3 Assassins Creed games, you wont love like it as you liked the first parts. Since Origin the game is more focused on the roleplay than assassins story. i was very dissapointed as a fan of assassins. But! If you look at this game as a completly new titel. It aint that bad.

    Gameplay: Muito boa e versátil(tem até combate naval), com um leque de várias habilidades para conseguir durante a jogatina Mapa e exploração: O maior mapa q eu já vi em um jogo, tem variedades de coisas divertidas para se fazer, com 26    Um 9,5 pra essa maravilha, com ctz um dos melhores jogos de toda minha vida

    The world is simply gorgeous in this game, the story and characters are also pretty solid (could be a legit sequel to the 300 films) but the gameplay could stand some improvement, even normal and weak enemies take like 5 minutes to kill, also I'm not a fan of naval warfare in AC games, it just feels clunky and not fun. besides all that, pretty solid game.

    Although it is not like the Assassin's Creed games we know, I think it is one of the best games in the series. AC: Odyssey offers the player great freedom with a great atmosphere, high graphics, a wide variety and a huge map. I loved this game because I was interesteding in history and ancient Greece.

    Graphics, gameplay, soundtrack, exploration, the world, the story! A world to explore outside and inside the sea! Everything is so full and densely packed! If some people find it a lot they have the option to do just exactly what they want and not complain about the size! There are people who want to invest much time in a game and not just 15 hours. Well worth the investment!

Ambitioniert bezieht sich hier zum einen auf die Größe der Open World, die man einfach als irrwitzig bezeichnen muss, zum anderen auf die Masse an Content, der einem geboten wird.

    Alleine um die    Mit dem nunmehr bereits elften Teil ihres Langzeit Franchises legt Ubisoft mit Assassin's Creed Odyssey, trotz seiner recht kurzen Entwicklungszeit, ihr bisher ambitioniertestes Abenteuer vor. Ambitioniert bezieht sich hier zum einen auf die Größe der Open World, die man einfach als irrwitzig bezeichnen muss, zum anderen auf die Masse an Content, der einem geboten wird.

    Alleine um die Hauptmissionen abzuschließen, muss man mit einer Spielzeit von etwa 60 Stunden rechnen. Will man alle Nebenquest mitnehmen, kann es gerne auch einmal die doppelte Spielzeit werden. Wenngleich der gebotene Content zwar nicht die Qualität eines The Witcher III oder Horizon Zero Dawn erreicht, hat sich Ubisoft dennoch deutlich bemüht ein gutes, motivierendes Niveau zu bieten. Schwächelte der Vorgänger "Origin" noch an seinen meist sehr repetitiven Nebenaufgaben, kann ein Odyssey mit seinen nun wesentlich storylastigeren Missionen schon deutlich besser bei Laune halten.

    Die Kämpfe in Odyssey fühlen sich allerdings immer noch etwas rudimentär und holzig an. Den Flow eines Horizon oder God of War erreicht man hier nicht ansatzweise. Gut gelungen hingegen ist die Schleichmechanik. Auch hier erfindet Ubisoft sich nicht neu, dass Ganze spielt sich weiterhin recht gewohnt und zugegeben simpel - das Anschleichen durch Büsche, das Anlocken von Gegnern und ein heimliches Ausschalten von Hinten mit Assassins Creed typischen Instant Kill Animationen macht aber ungemein Laune, sorgt für Spannung und ermöglicht auch ein taktisches Vorgehen, dass immer wieder motiviert.

    Schön ist auch, dass die Storyentwicklung des Spiels deutlich freier und komplexer gestaltet wurde als man dies von Ubisoft Spielen bisher kennt. So können wir in Odyssey vor allem auch Einfluss auf die Hintergrundgeschichte, den Krieg zwischen Sparta und Athen, nehmen, beispielsweise indem wir uns stärker auf eine Seite der Auseinandersetzung schlagen, oder wichtige Figuren der Geschichte hinterrücks einfach abmeucheln. Auch das neue Dialogsystem trägt seinen Teil dazu bei, dass sich Odyssey hinsichtlich seiner Storyentwicklung organischer anfühlt.

    Dass die Hauptgeschichte eher etwas eindimensional daher kommt, stört aufgrund des tollen Settings, in welcher sie eingebettet wurde, so auch weniger. Eher störend ist allerdings die arg stereotype Ausgestaltung des Protagonisten, der leider oft als reine Karikatur rüberkommt, vor allem wenn man die englische Sprachausgabe zuschaltet. Kassandra als alternativer weiblicher Charakter macht es da etwas besser, da hier zumindest die Genderstereotype etwas gebrochen werden, das Machogehabe bleibt aber dasselbe. Hier muss letztlich jeder Spieler für sich selbst schauen, ob er mit den Charakteren etwas anfangen oder das Spiel wegen zu viel Fremdschämerei nicht wirklich genießen kann.

    Ein weiteres Problem von Odyssey ist, dass das Game ohne ausuferndes Grinding nur spielbar ist, wenn man via Mikrotransaktion Erfahrungspunkte einkauft. Der Casual Gamer, der hauptsächlich der Main Story folgen will, wird so gezwungen zusätzliches Geld in die Hand zu nehmen, was nicht nur unfair ist, sondern sich eben auch blöd anfühlt. Dem Hardcoregamer, der sowieso mehr Zeit in das Spiel steckt und ein Gro der Sidequests mitnehmen wird, fällt das Grinding vermutlich deutlich weniger auf. Tatsache ist aber, dass man bei Assassins Creed Odyssey extrem schnell unterlevelt ist. Sind Gegner nur ein, zwei Level über euch, hat man bereits kaum mehr eine Chance. Das wirkt nach Absicht und zeigt, dass es Ubisoft hier wieder nur ums Kohle machen geht. Zudem verhindert es eine positives Feedback hinsichtlich der eigenen Progression. Man hat zu keinem Zeitpunkt des Spiels das Gefühl stärker zu werden, da die Gegner automatisch mitleveln, und die Herausforderung so eigentlich immer die gleiche bleibt. Auch hier muss jeder selbst für sich ausprobieren, ob einem diese Spielmechanik über die lange Spielzeit wirklich motiviert.

    Belohnt wird man bei Odyssey letztlich durch eine der lebendigste und schönsten Spielewelten dieser Konsolengeneration. Auch technisch läuft Odyssey, gar auf der Standard PS4, ungemein flüssig und wunderschön anzuschauen und ist neben PS4 Exklusivtiteln wie God of War oder Horizon Zero Dawn überraschenderweise einer der am besten an die mittlerweile nicht mehr ganz taufrische Hardware angepassten Titel geworden.    … Expand

    First off: I am a big fan of classical Greece and Rome. So any game in either setting will get bonus points from me. Never played AC before, but I wasn't expecting a game a lot like the Witcher 3. Now, I adore that game, so I had no problem with a Greek spin on things.     a) The story is engaging and well presented
    b) The graphics are spectacular (especially the light effects, the sea, etc...)    Assassin's creed Odyssey is one of the most underrated games I know....I mean...Come on...If we are honest with ourselves, we must acknowledge this is a great game who borrowed a lot from The Witcher 3. Assassin's Creed Odyssey performs in a lot of major aspects:
    a) The story is engaging and well presented
    b) The graphics are spectacular (especially the light effects, the sea, etc...)
    c) There is a lot of content and there is important depth in the open world
    d) The naval battles are back (for those who miss Black Flag :))
    e) The gameplay is fun most of the time

    There are some reasons why I think the reviews are around 6,5/10 and from my understanding, I see that a lot of players put 0/10 because of the microtransactions, the leveling system or the fact it doesn't seem as a traditional AC game.

    However, the truth is that the microtransactions are not at all mandatory. We must consider side quests as main quests here...In fact, side quests give us reasons to explore the world, discover new areas, etc...

    In my 86 hours playthrough, I've never been underleveled and I finished the main story at level 49. I plan to continue until level 52 or so (still want to complete a few quests...). Here are a few recommendations to enjoy your playthrough:

    1. You need to explore the world and do side quests.
    2 Don't do the random generated quests on boards or the time limited ones. There are enough quests with the yellow mark to level up appropriately
    3. Play on normal difficulty. I would consider possibly hard for rpg fans but avoid at all cost Nighmare because enemies are really really spungy
    4. If you have an assassin build, try to be 1 or 2 levels above your enemies. I t will help you to play more stealthy. If you have the same level or if you're a bit underleveled, the risk is that you won't eliminate totally your target with a stealth attack
    5. Don't play this game right after Origins, The Witcher 3 or Zelda breath of the Wild. It's a little bit too similar, so you will best enjoy this game after completing other type of games (I played Concrete Genie, Bioshock Infinite, Bloodborne and Yakuza 3 before AC Odyssey)    … Expand

I did give Black Flag a chance on the PS3 but it didn’t stick with me for some reason, and since then I haven’t touched an Assassin’s Creed game until now, after hearing a lot of good stuff about Odyssey. People seem to recommend it based on its RPGSo, I was a big fan of the Ezio trilogy back in the day and actually played through Altair’s story only after I’d finished the sequel. I did give Black Flag a chance on the PS3 but it didn’t stick with me for some reason, and since then I haven’t touched an Assassin’s Creed game until now, after hearing a lot of good stuff about Odyssey. People seem to recommend it based on its RPG elements, as well as its beautifully crafted world and countless hours of playtime.

    I believe I’m somewhere midway through the story, I haven’t been prompted to visit all islands yet and I tend to let the story tell me where to go, and I’ve probably spent 80 hours or so playing. There is A LOT of content and optional side quests and I’ve only recently begun to focus mainly on the story because for a while I almost burnt myself out doing quests that (originally unbeknownst to me) get refreshed continually. My OCD prevents me from leaving ?-marks untouched on the map and I guess I’ll just have to live with the fact that there are markers for optional quests cluttering my map, and those markers will just never go away.

    If you play this game, you will do yourself a big favor by ignoring the timeglass quests which don’t serve any purpose besides padding your XP. They don’t make any sense either and they’re all the same: ”Bandits come here and destroy our crops, please help, we only want peace” (spoken by a peaceful looking old woman), ”Oh, so you want me to gut all the bandits?” ”Yes,” the peaceful lady goes, ”all of them must DIE.” and you just sit there wondering what’s going on. Anyway.

    I do have a problem with this sort of wide-open narrative because it feels disjointed and I sometimes wish I could just do the main story and be happy but at the same time I feel the urge to explore everything the world has to offer. The world is beautifully crafted but can feel quite hollow since a lot of the quests are the same and the world just feels like a static scenery that you run back and forth through.

    I enjoy the RPG elements and the ability to upgrade weapons and change their appearance is great, because if you find a weapon that has good perks you can always upgrade its overall damage, making them accurate for your level. I hated finding weapons with great stats in The Witcher 3 only for them to be quite useless after I’d gained two levels or so. Also, you can change the appearance of your gear so you won’t have to deal with a dramatic climax being ruined because your character is dressed in a tuxedo with combat boots, a beenie and black/golden Elvis glasses (looking at you, CP2077 - it actually had me laughing through the climactic ending because, well, it’s just impossible to take someone serious when they look like they’ve literally fallen unconscious and gotten dressed up by 3-year olds at a flee market). Anyway.

    I don’t really have anything bad to say about the graphics and animation - overall it looks great in my opinion, and it plays great and feels fluid like it should. It’s not GoW, but it’s what I’d expect from an Assassin’s Creed game. The combat does become a bit repetitive and after a while fights become too easy, but luckily there are mercenaries with certain abilities/perks who might still present a challenge.

    Kassandra is a likeable character and I really like her voice-acting. The supporting cast is mostly just good but nothing stellar apart from a few exceptions. Being a history buff with an interest in ancient Greek philosophy helps to make the story interesting.

    Like others have said, it feels more like a ”spartan warrior”-story than a ”templar vs assassin”-story, but the precursors of the templars and assassins are still there waiting to be uncovered. I would’ve liked a larger focus on modern day/animus and the whole conspiracy-aspect of AC though.

    Microtransactions are there, yes, but they can easily be ignored.

    Great music. Quite interesting character arc/development, Kassandra is likeable, the world is huge but ultimately feels quite hollow (though beautiful)…

    At this point though I sort of just want to get on with the story. The game is like watching a 5-hour movie, you can’t help but feel like it would’ve been better if it was a bit more densely packed and effective in its execution. The grand scale instead, at least to me, lessens the impact that I believe the story could have had had it been shorter/denser.    … Expand

I love the TW3 and I’m glad other games are at least trying to copy its formula and Odyssey comes the closest. By the end I was the top ranked mercenary, champion of the arena and I had wiped out the entire cult, and I finally completed the “sci-fi” quest chain too. All these things I did because I wanted to. I’m just 70 hours I feel I lived through a life in Ancient Greece. I was completely lost there during the holidays. I’m so glad I played this game and so many people judge it for not being something it’s clearly not intending to do. Sometimes it’s good to let the past die because old AC had run its course. Not all AC have to be like Odyssey but I’m so glad Odyssey itself exists… Expand

    It's a huge game, if you want to get remotely close to complete. Even feels bigger than Witcher3 and does go in to a bit of rinse and repeat, but the main story is reasonably interesting and I will finish it.
    That said, it makes you want to put down open world games for a few months, it's so big, but value for money? It's very very good.

The story of a Spartan family and the Greek world being destroyed or manipulated by the Cult is brilliant and well-made. In every part of Greece there are different quests and challenges, land to conquer or plunder, either being a Spartan or Athenian. After some time side-quests become too repetitive and you will propably try to skip them. Well, after at least half of the game, everything starts to feel repetitive, in every location, always same activities, but if you are a completionist like me, you will probably spend another few hours trying to finish every location activity. Aside the quest being repetitive, the world of Greece is amazing, so beautiful, many historical locations and different cities.
    Talking about rpg elements, the skill tree is well detailed and gives you many options, stealth assassination not the best but acceptable. Main character movement not the realistic one, falling from a cliff and you don't die, weird running animation and not many parkour animations.

    All in all I enjoyed playing this game and it took me more than 100 hours to finish it, but it was worth the time.    … Expand

    The story is not the best in the series, but the characters are memorable and the gameplay keeps you getting back for some more. The level system is interesting, the fights are exciting and the map is huge, with a lot of of things to do. Loved the greek setting.

    Better than Valhalla in every way so it should be rated higher. Valhalla has the exact same micro transactions yet people brushed it aside this time around. If Odyssey was review bombed for said reason than Valhalla should be too, especially when the game is even more boring and slower to get through. Valhalla made me appreciate Odyssey more.

    Odyssey for me not an AC game, it is just great RPG. It improves in every way from previos game, have not a bad main story, super beautiful world, that is fun and interesting to explore.     I'am not a fan of AC "universe", but i like new formula since Origins.

    Incredible awesome game. Graphic is much better then in new Vallhala, also with 2 dlc it’s incredible story. Now it got patch for 60 FPS

    I can understand why many people who are the long time fan of AC don't like this game. Yes! It is completely different from previous AC , but if you are big fan of RPG like Witcher 3 or Skyrim you going to like this game.

    I'm a fan so I can't take a real partisan vote. I am too biased in judgment. However, for the moment there has been a qualitative leap from Origins, a return to being research wanted it is a good return to the origin. A game that I still can't stop playing. I sincerely miss Altair .. but I am satisfied with the experience

The game also features the biggest open-world map in the series' history. And it's the first main entry to include a female protagonist. Set in Ancient Greece, it depicts the great war between the Spartans and the Athenians. Greek mythological figures such asFirst things first, "Odyssey" plays a lot like "Origins". Greek mythological figures such as Medusa also eventually appear. Unfortunately, the side-missions are mainly fetch quests. Combat mechanics and the Mercenary system recalls Shadow of Mordor more than Assassin's Creed. Fans of "Origins" will certainly love this. But if you didn't like that Egypt-set adventure, then you'll probably skip this one. The franchise has become a "Witcher"-like action game for better or worse. I would rate "Odyssey" with an 8.3 out of 10.… Expand

    A better combat system than the previous one. An interesting mythological story. It was a lot of fun to travel to ancient Greece. It was also good to have various endings.
    But the DLC was disappointing.

    Graphics 9 Stunning for the most part. No noticeable frame rate drop. Only complaint is the lighting in the final episode of the Fate of Atlantis was terrible. Sound 9 Voice acting is pitch perfect, especially by Melissanthi Mahut who plays the role of Kassandra. Soundtrack of fitting too. Gameplay 6 Whilst combat and traversal are fun, the repetitive grind was what    AC Odyssey

    This game is the best of the 3 modern AC games. The story is fantastic, the characters are interesting and have actual motivation unlike the awful Origins, combat is great, it's an all around great game. Unless you liked Origins you will love this game.

    İ like this game but many missions is boring and i dont have time spend on missions . Level design is slow . İ spend 253 hours in this game . İ feel boring but this change i play DLCs. Combat is not feels very fun but i liked this combat system.

    However, as an avid stealth adventure    First of all, I'm not an avid fan of AC's franchise, this is my fifth AC games (Rogue, Black Flag, Syndicate, Valhalla and this one, yes I'm going backwards), and I sort of understand why everyone hating the new direction of their beloved franchise (like I dislike modern RE games except the remakes, well that does not include RE 3 Remake of course).

    However, as an avid stealth adventure game fan, of course AC games will always piqued my interest, and since I started the new AC from Valhalla, I personally believed this game is A LOT better than the successor (I'm playing Origins as I started writing this review).

    It has less repetitive rinse-repeat side quests (not counting the generic mercenary's board quest of course), it's more simple in terms of the combat (although the active skills is a bit bothersome to handle sometimes), better MC, and better story (main campaign).

    Minor gripes probably the same with many other open games as usual, less convenient fast travel point to the quest, and the ride/horse is just not as reliable as it can't cross a river (this is more like a nitpicking), and the amount you have to spend on your ship for a certain trophy, even though the ship is less important to the main campaign (you don't need to invest heavily).

    So for a neutral player point of view, I don't mind AC heading this direction, it's inevitable since they have to expand the universe, it's still a stealth and open game, with beautiful lore and historical place, try it, if you have the chance.    … Expand

    Yes there are better games, yes there are bugs and problems, yes it seems a bit unpolished from time to time. The war fights are repetative, there are far too many objectives and things that disstract you. BUT I enjoyed every single minute it is just a cool game. The story (even without Assassins) is really good for an AC Game. Greece looks just astonishing, the DLC is overwhelmingly good.Yes there are better games, yes there are bugs and problems, yes it seems a bit unpolished from time to time.     I cared more for these characters and the world than I ever did in previous Assassin’s Creed games, and I think that’s part of why this reboot is so successful. Playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey left me feeling valiant and triumphant as I worked my way up the cultist food chain, and and I was always excited to see what Kassandra was off to discover next.

    If someone had told me couple of years ago that Assassin’s Creed would become a full-fledged action RPG that would not look out of place on a shelf next to The Witcher 3, I would have snickered. But here I am, over 80 hours into Odyssey and still unable to believe that really happened. [12/2018, p.44]
