Once in a while you reach certain save areas called "base camps" where you have many options to upgrade your gear and abilities...just like in Resident Evil 4. Story is not so good, environments tend to become monotonous after a while, and tombs dont feel special...It is a relative good game for a casual gamer who just wants to kill some time after work but not for the old school TR player. He may enjoy it but not as a TR game....Sadly, the TR spirit is long gone.... Expand

Houve evolução consideravel em tudo desde o TR 2013, graficos, mapa etc. Historia bem gliche prometendo algo pro terceiro jogo, gostei mais da babvanga como Boss do que o vilão russo do jogo principal.

It's fun, isn't it? After Uncharted being so inspired in the original Tomb Raider series, it's so ironic that the new Tomb Raider era consists basically of trying to emulate Naughty Dog's hit. Where in the 2013 game, the character development of the new Lara, a normal person turning herself into a serial killer in order to survive in a mad island, here they deliver a mediocre storyline of a daddy issue suffering Lara that reminds the mediocre mid-2000s Tomb Raider games. Where she was more like a human being in the past game, here she's again just a rich person with nothing else to do, just **** around and obsessed with a discovery in a way that feels too similar (but not nearly as good) as Uncharted 3 storyline.

Then all the random soviet guys in the storyline, the now-mandatory wanna-be-open-world / crafting / hunting moments (inspired by Far Cry success but here it just simply feel boring), it never feels detailed and I can't care for the characters. The combat is ridicously easy and casual even on the more difficult sessions too.

The game is still casual fun, like a blockbuster action movie, but Uncharted is casual fun too (and with awful, Indiana-Jones ripped storylines too), but at least I have Drake and Sullivan who are among the finest modern characters in game and ND's level of detail, here you have a common AAA shooter which it happens to have legendary the Tomb Raider name on it.

I loved TR 2013, but already there you could sense repetitiveness after playing it a bit. This new Rise of Tomb Raider is 100% carbon copy of TR 2013. There is exactly NOTHING new in this game. Puzzles are too simple. This game is just a gigantic disappointment. Expand

Firstly, this game is definitely overrated in my opinion, though i understand many gamers would probably disagree right away as it has been rated really well. I thought the graphics were fricking sick but i felt the story could have had more thought put in by the developers, and challenge tombs could have been worked on harder to be more challenging then they were.

The little side items that you obtain in small chests to find and grab were pretty pointless in my opinion though the gameplay was alright as I loved the inventory upgrade system with the camp fire and the areas were pretty awesome to roam around. I enjoyed the side missions much better than the story as they add more to the game and was more stuff to do. The combat was op i must admit. One more thing to say positively about rise of the tomb raider is that it was really well optimized and i only encountered one bug in a challenge tomb with a canoe.
The last tomb raider was definitely better in every way except the graphics in my view.

    A Step Back From Greatness
Tomb Raider 2013 is one of my most favorite games ever.. Needless to say I was excited to play the sequel..
Unfortunately, they dropped the gritty tone of the original to chase uncharted….
Lara sets out to uncover a mystery her father was mocked for..
This game starts out in the Serbian mountains and the majority of the game keeps you in the snow covered mountains…
And of course there are bad guys after the same artifact you are..
    So youre not alone…
The tomb raider reboot introduced a crafting system which has been brought back, but this time feels much more in the background..
You can gather items and hunt animals for materials to craft bandages and upgrade your weapons…
But none of this is forced…
And much like the past game you upgrade your weapons at a campfire, which also acts as a fast travel point and a place for you to spend your skill points as you level up…
Rise of the tomb raider feels much more linear this time around..
The world doesn’t really feel as connected as the original…
Its for the most part a linear path that you traverse with climbing aces and ropes..
The game feels much more like assassins creed this time around because of this…
It gives uncharted 4 a run for its money with how much climbing you actually do here…
As well as the series as a whole during the few epic chase sequences qhich are easily some of my favorite moments in the entire game…
When you aren’t climbing there are a few openish sections you can explore but the mistake the original made is back as well with secrets being locked off until you progress further in the story to unlock the needed tool and come back...
This is a cheap tactic to prolong gameplay hours…
but more so its frustrating and ironically discourages exploration…
Why look around when 1 in 2 areas is going to tell me to come back later?
I might as well just ignore everything and run forward..
This is what I ended up doing..
Fortunately rise of the tomb raider is gorgeous, and traversing the parquor sections and solving environmental puzzles old fans will be happy to see returned outside of just being secrets is a great deal of fun…
And the 3rd person shooter combat feels decently nice, its not uncharted good, but its passable.. you have the option to stealth or shoot your way through most sections… you can also dodge attacks and counter….
The puzzle pieces are all here for this to be a masterpiece of a game…
except theyre missing the center piece… the one thing that makes all of this come together and work for uncharted in such a beautiful way…
    And that’s character…
Theres not a single well written character in this entire game…
    This includes lara…
The original this wasn’t so.. the game felt so real and you felt so vulnerable.. not only having to survive enemies but the environment.. I cared the entire way.. here however youre just a girl Nathan drake with 0 personality…
Which ultimately makes this feel like just a generic third person shooter experience…
There was no reason to stray away from the unique gritty adventure they had going on with tomb raider 2013, but they did and the feel of the game suffered for it
And Im not sure if this story was game of thrones inspired, but it felt pretty copy and paste making every turn so predictable, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if again the characters had character, but they didn’t.. I wasn’t invested in the story at all…
The PS4 20 year celebration version also comes with all of the dlc…
Endurance which can be played either single or co op where youre tasked with surviving by eating food and gathering resources.. Very fun idea, but the challenges for the trophies wont unlock unless they are an active challenge, which if youre trophy hunting kills all reason to continue if there are no more trophy related challenges to do…
cold darkness which is a stealth zombie dlc where you have to infiltrate a research base for a chemical weapon
as well as Baba Yaga and Blood ties which ill be reviewing on their own as they are each about an hour long expansion with their own stories..
While I do wish the characters were better written in Rise of The Tomb Raider, I still feel is a quality experience, well worth your money if youre a fan of action adventure…
I Give Rise of The Tomb Raider..

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Рецензия на игру Raise of the Tomb raider от Будеева.А.
Raise of the Tomb raider-сиквел перезапуска знаменитой франшизы.

Visuals are really nice, it's one of the better looking games, tho my minor complaint is worse performance in Geothermal Valley zone compared to the rest of the game.

The gameplay is really fine, you have bow, pistol, riffle and shotgun so this combined with perk system and weapon upgrades gives quite enough diversity in combat and how you approach each situation.

If you played a previous installment, this is pretty much the same with new setting to explore and new story, witch few changes here and there (mainly upgrade and perk system are a bit better here.

However, I can't give more than 7 because as I already mentioned, the story is a bit cliche and a lot of gameplay time is being pushed thru collectibles and there is a lot of them. The worst part is that collectibles require constant backtracking since you can't access some without some tools which you get after progressing much further into main story. This really destroys flow of the game. Second complaint about collectibles - they are nearly meaningless (very small benefit from certain collectibles). I don't understand how lazy developers became, because you can make even basic content filler, such as collectibles really fun.

    Pros:
    - Visuals
    - Setting
    - Gameplay and presentation

    Cons:
    - Cliche story
    - dull and uninspired content filler - collectibles.

The cut-scenes, though frequent and on the longer side, never tend to bore the player, but rather immerse him in a great and exciting story. The content is extensive and there's plenty to see and do, though the puzzles do tend to get a bit repetitive towards the later stages.
The gameplay is solid, though some aspects could be improved. Especially the melee fighting comes out as a bit "clunky" at times. Furthermore, the collection of scrolls and scribblings, secret coin caches, relics and other such junk that you find lying around never really makes that big of a difference. Supplies and ammunition are plentiful, negating the need for frequent crafting, though you do need some special resources in order to craft certain utilities.
The gameplay isn't too linear due to the fact that there are many chances for side quests which bring some bonuses, but are not obligatory for normal progression. The down side is that the bonuses you unlock usually become available at a later stage of the game anyway, which means you'll only really benefit from them for a short amount of time. This does however ensure that new game mechanics, which become available throughout the game, bring a new twist, resulting in a better gameplay experience.
The game also tends to vary in its pace, which was a nice surprise for me. You have your usual stealth assassination parts, but there are also parts where a firefight is necessary in order to progress. You'll also be thrust into sudden action with events such as collapsing bridges or falling rocks, which seem to come out of nowhere while you are peacefully climbing your way through the game.
Overall the game is a great experience. It's main problems lie in gameplay mechanics and the usual lag and drop in FPS. 8/10

There are many platforming segements that while visualing appealing are typically on rails and you have little choice in how to go about climbing things and almost no chance of failure. If the game has one pitfall it's this. The platforming is fairly easy.

The game is strongest in it's challenge tombs, which oddly despite the game being called "Tomb Raider" are not integral to the games completion or where the plot pulls you, but solving the tombs puzzles is always satisfying and usually involves a bit of thinking.

The game is a worthy purchase if you liked the first one or enjoy adventure games with a lot of potential exploration. There's definitely a lot of fun and hours to spend in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

A poor sequel to Tomb Raider 2013. TR 2013 achieved the same quality graphics with less strain on your graphic card. Story and challenges are poorly conceived, with bad physics.

I don't understand one thing - If Uncharted 4 is 93, how come this is 86? I really don't get it. It starts to get repetitive in the second open area, collectibles are completely worthless and they're in every corner, so if you want co collect them, you have to stop 100 times even during the main story missions in every single linear corridor (which btw each mission is). Other than that, graphics are really nice, but the problem is that nice graphics cannot fix something with cliché in every dialogue and mediocrity written all over the gameplay and story. Only starting gamers and people blinded by the graphics can appreciate a game like this, for me it felt like just some unsatisfying lite version of Uncharted and a waste of time, when I finally got to that stereotypical cliffhanger at the end. I'd just like to first say how much I love the voice actress of Lara, she does an incredible job of bringing her to life and honestly she's a big reason as to why I've enjoyed the last two games so much, she really does knock it out of the park and she's not alone, the voice work across the board was solid apart from Jonah who I personally didn't like. The story itself was also interestingI'd just like to first say how much I love the voice actress of Lara, she does an incredible job of bringing her to life and honestly she's a big reason as to why I've enjoyed the last two games so much, she really does knock it out of the park and she's not alone, the voice work across the board was solid apart from Jonah who I personally didn't like. The story itself was also interesting and kept me engaged and didn't hold the voice actors back at all.

One of the games other big strengths is the climbing/platforming, I really feel it does this better than Uncharted mainly due to how many tools Lara has at her disposable, it was nice to see Uncharted 4 build upon their system by "stealing" the porous wall mechanic from Tomb Raider, it's a little thing but it adds a lot, and Rise has lots of these little mechanics that keep the gameplay fresh throughout. I would say Uncharted 4 definitely edged out Rise when it came to gunplay though, especially AI which was particularly awful in Rise, I was only playing on normal difficulty so maybe it's better on higher difficulties, but the enemies would just stand there after a friend had been headshot with their hand in the air while I primed another arrow which was really silly. Another area I felt UC4 edged out Rise was "epic moments", these set pieces are often my favourite things about both series and Rise just didn't have any, it had some cool moments but nothing truly wow, the Definitive Edition definitely had its moments and I was waiting for Rise to have its all the way until the end but it never came.

My biggest annoyance personally was performance though, this is the first game where I really struggled to maintain 1080p/60fps without drops, having to drop to the medium preset with 16x AF and high detail being the only variance from the preset. The game started off great, no performance issues at all on very high settings but it got worse and worse as the game went on, especially any zone outside just tanked the frame rate on higher settings. And the weird thing about it was most of the time nothing was happening, it was just running through the world or even just panning the camera. I'm running a 3570k @ 4.3GHz, MSI GTX 970 4G heavily overclocked, 8GB DDR3, SSD on Windows 10, this machine runs Witcher 3 at 1080p/60 without a dropped frame on a mix of high/ultra so I really feel it's an optimisation issue more so than a lack of power on my part. I really didn't like having to dumb down the graphics but performance is always my priority, I just don't usually have to sacrifice so much to achieve it (I really missed having Purehair enabled which looked great compared to Hairworks IMO).

The thing that really stands out about Rise of the Tomb Raider is that you care about the characters at all.

Lara Croft's latest adventure represents some of the best platforming in 3D you can get. A paradoxical mix of brutal reality and crazy Indiana Jones action.

Hands down the finest version of the best Tomb Raider game. [03/2016, p.68]
