Great game overall and I had loads of fun with it. This being said, apart from technical improvements (graphics), it felt inferior in every away to the previous game, mainly in terms of plot, characters and overall feeling of progression / accomplishment. But this is purely subjective opinion and I still recommend this game.

But this game is pretty heavy, so... remember!

Very high textures = 8GB VRAM (It was meant just for Titan X and 4k res)
    High textures = 4GB VRAM
    Medium textures = 2GB VRAM

If you use more than you card could handle of course it would freeze a lot.
And don't use SSAA anti-alias!! Use SMAA.

Now you can forget the fear of this game not being optimized. When in fact is greatly optimized.
The game is absolutely gorgeous, fun, great. I'm not reviewing just to repeat what other people said. I hope this instructions can help you to play the game and have a blast. :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was really psyched for this game but it was not meant to be. The technical aspects of the game are great I guess, but the actual gameplay is quite boring with a much smaller world to boot. The story is very similar to the original game which makes sense as part of a franchise except it's *too* similar and even worse, it's missing aspects of its predecessor that made the story exciting. For instance, you aren't pushed to uncover the truth about a centuries-old legend. Instead of using your imagination, you're spoon-fed most of it. You aren't gripped with suspense for hours on end; you already know what you're looking for and the gist of what it does, and there's no life-or-death struggle. Lara could go home and retire in ignominy if she left Kitezh valley; not so on Yamatai. Even Ana's deception is so pointless! You aren't allowed time to become attached to that relationship, so it's anti-climactic when it's revealed. And when she dies at the end, you don't feel loss like you would if there was a tangible bond between the two. Instead, you wish she had suffered more. Not only that but so much of the plot is lifted directly from Tomb Raider! You have an army of immortal zombie warriors, a volcanic region, a loved one in harm's way, a selfish traitor, an eleventh-hour gambit of impossible odds, etc. And at the very end of the story, you get this bad taste in your mouth b/c you realize she basically aided a false prophet / war criminal / slave driver. Pros = the game looks and plays and runs amazingly well. Sadly that's it.

Cons = Same old same old yawnathon. Linear on a scale that's unimaginable. You're essentially just playing the story the devs wanted. Not crafted a specific item the devs wanted you to craft? you can't progress. There are no surprises here. You can't use your imagination at all. Essentially this game is all

Essentially this game is all suited up beautifully but has no underpants on, there is literally no depth. If you like linear hand holding games, wait for the sale.

Pros:Awesome game-play and story. Superb graphics, Challenging tombs and crypts. Weapon and skill upgrades and resources add replay value.
Cons:Lag spikes and Frame drops on Highest settings and dual GPU setups. Some challenge quests are hard to find and not really rewarding.

If you liked 2013's Tomb Raider, you'll love this game. Rise of the Tomb Raider improves on its predecessor in almost every way, with better gameplay, better graphics, better sound design, better pacing and most importantly, more actual tombs to explore. Also, while it's not an open world game, you'll be able to explore the areas around you in a fairly free manner, unlike the previous game which had an awfully linear design throughout. Naturally, with a more open structure comes a whole lot of side stuff. Completionists will have a field day with this game, as there are numerous collectibles, secrets and ruins to discover. Most of them are more filler than killer, though, and I personally don't feel the need to go looking for every single hidden cache or ancient artifact.

The story's alright, I suppose. Nothing mind-blowing, but it's not bad either. It takes a lot of cues from Indiana Jones movies, particularly The Last Crusade. The voice acting is pretty good and the cutscenes are well done. The whole game looks gorgeous both in gameplay and during cutscenes, but you'll need a lot of horsepower if you want to crank all the settings up and get a stable 60fps.

The PC port seems to have been made pretty well. There is a satisfying amount of options available and the overall optimisation is great, I haven't noticed any stuttering or weird drops in framerate. It's a demanding title, yes, but it's also one of the best looking games I've ever seen. I cannot say anything about the keyboard and mouse controls, since I've been using an Xbox controller to play this.

Overall, it's a damn fine action/adventure game and in my opinion the best Lara Croft game to date. And all you awkward teen boys can stop worrying, Lara is still plenty hot even without her tight shorts and enormous breasts.

Very good game with good characters and fantastic graphics. The story is very good and although I've only played for 8 hours I fell that this game is amazing. I run the game on a i5 4690k, gtx 970 and 16gb RAM and the optimization is pretty okay.

I get 40fps with everything maxed, FXAA in 1080p If I turn down hair to "on", shadows to "high", tesselation "off", and texture quality to

I game with awesome gameplay, but poorly optimized for the PC. It's definately playable, but if you have an i5 or less expect it to be bottlenecking your graphics card.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (May contain a few spoilers)

    First, ask yourself these:

    1. Do you like Lara Croft Games?
    If yes, continue.

    2. Do you mind being a young woman fighting only men?
If no, you don't mind, continue.

    3. Did you play and (!) like the previous game?
    Optional, either way continue ;)

I really like the game and the reboot in general. It's a journey showing why Lara becomes the woman she's reknown for.
In this "episode" the center plays around her father and the legacy he left Lara. Throughout the game, either during campfire restings or cut scenes, Lara's past and development is being explained more and more.
Whoever remembers the originals will realize that this is very true and fitting - a little girl who grew up with a loving yet distant father, who was driven to (Spoiler) "suicide" in the end.

The gameplay is excellent, as always. It's a lot better than the previous version, less repetative and extremly satisfying.
Yes of curse it's not fully immersive - as per usual you unlock abilities, weapon extensions and so on. It's a game and I don't mind as it does actually feel "rewarding", appealing to the human senses of improving ourself.

Graphics, what can I say? If you've got the machine, play it at least on High if not FULL - it's a gorgous as a game can get. My first awe was when Lara made her way through deep snow, sruggling forward and leaving a deep trail in the snow with every step. Marvelous!

Combat is satisfying, however sometimes a tad bit clunky. Clunky in a way where at times you have no other option than to blast through enemies. Lara can now hide and kill even more efficiently silently (taking a part from Assassins Creed, like hiding in bushes or jumping from above for a clean kill) - this however is being disrupted once you're spotted. Hiding again? No chance, enemies will hunt you down to the end and always find you, for example when I dove back under ice water and swam under a thick layer of ice to another exit, NPCs followed me w/o any issues.

Speaking of ice water. While I love the immersive behavior, I try not to gringe too much about the unrealistic "swimming through ice cold water, drenched wet and then being absolutely fine". Here we need to apply "it's a game" - otherwise you'll groan a bit too often.

Story: it's ok. It's been there before, especially in movies (Holy Grail anyone?). What really bothers me here is the same like in every cheesy movie: who dies when and how - or what happens next. NOTHING is surprising at all.
It builds up the typical race to the goal, where people you ally yourself with will die - of course in the most cheesy way. SPOILER: "shoot him, don't listen to him" ...and of course he's not shooting him and of course taking his eyes from the murderous maniac that just tortured you for hours, therefore killing you with a knife. Ugh.

BUT this does not make it a bad game. It reduces 100% quite a bit, though.

    Verdict: 85%

Game is very good - interesting, beautiful graphics. 1/10 because of:
    1. denuvo - craziest lags and freezes, although it can be cause no one can in to optimization of PC-ports.
    2. price just after release is 10% smaller than pre-sale price - wtf?.

Square Enix wants to look like WB Games? Dumbest wish in the world.

    Again a bad PC port

Everything is good about this game, yet there are few major bugs that i encountered during my yesterday's, first play-through on PC. 1) Major FPS drops, especially during the cut scenes 2) Game got stuck a couple of times, and i had to 'end-task' it Hopefully they fix it soon. Story line seems Ok, at least till that part that i've finished so far. - 7/10

If you have an AMD card I cannot tell you if it's gonna run well or not, if it does run badly I advise to turn off tesselation and have ambient occlusion on ON only as it is linked to the great Nvidia Gameworks which we all know and love so much. The frame dips are really heavy in snowy areas especially, but that does not take away from the great experience that this game is. There is more to do, more upgrades to find, more actual TOMBS in a TOMB Raider and a very well presented story. All in all the experience is better than the first one which is all you can hope for in a sequal Expand
