Ranked beneath the first game in terms of storytelling. Simply put, compared to the first game, this sequel was boring.

Yes, I enjoyed the combat, but the story hardly captivated me. The gameplay felt like an upgrade, better up to a point, as did the graphics, but unfortunately, these improvements weren't enough to compensate for the inferiority of the story. It's a shame, as all the

The gameplay felt like an upgrade, better up to a point, as did the graphics, but unfortunately, these improvements weren't enough to compensate for the inferiority of the story. It's a shame, as all the interesting and important characters from the first game barely received any significant "screen time" in this sequel (except for Petra and, of course, Jesse).

Somehow Telltale proved that adventures, slaying monsters and saving friends can be boring. [03/2018, p.74]

With a compelling overarching narrative and more engaging gameplay, Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two is an improvement over the uneven and inconsistent first season. I enjoy the Admin as both a character and a threat to the world, and seeing Jesse face off against him is entertaining. While the story takes unnecessary and uninteresting turns and gives you few choices of consequence. Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two is a fine continuation for those who wanted more from Jesse and crew.
