    Rockstar did a very bad job. This was NOT expected from Rockstar. They gave the responsibility to a small studio which had a low budget. I appreciate everything that Groove street has done but I’m so disappointed with Rockstar.

    I could go: “This is wrong, this sucks, wtf is that…” but I’d rather give some constructive criticism.
    There are several paths you can take to fix this, but here are my two cents:

    Release the game as it is, but make it your utmost priority to release a MASSIVE PATCH that is true to the ‘artistic feel’ of the original games. Some passionate modders were able to do so, I have no doubt you have the resources to do the same or better. The examples of glitches/texture errors/overhaul choices are plentiful and are certainly due to some oversight during quality control.
    Nevertheless, the environment (except for the rain in gta3 and the missing draw distance fog in SA), looks generally good.
    Besides the obvious graphical issues: the missing music. I realize it is not always possible to license any song for a game as GTA but some Vice City songs are so iconic it just doesn’t feel the same… But: instead of removing songs, I hope you consider REPLACING some songs. The 80s are a treasure trove of iconic songs and I am certain some suitable replacements reflecting the decade can be found.

    Thankfully I own the original games and play them on an old system. A definitive edition should be the pinnacle experience of this trilogy, and I can’t help but feel and think ‘Nice try, but it misses that je ne sais quoi ’.

    Considering that the GTA series, and it’s increasing quality, have been the flagship, worldwide bestselling, series that nearly all other game studios envied. It accumulated so much respect through the years and witnessing this release is so contradictory to what you have delivered in the past.

    Please, fix this.

    This is so bad, they should've had kept it by a simple remaster or just a port instead of changing or removing stuff that makes it worst. And it feels so odd to have nice graphics with outdated animations, they didn't even improved that and to take down Mods and removing the original healthy versions from the store is another BS.     -Literal zero fog (???) game from a plane now looks awful, I assume it runs so bad because it has to load stuff from a billion miles away?
    -For every "new" feature, there are 3 new bugs that have come with it.
    -The games lost their character completely, where is the grittyness of Liberty City? the orange hue of Los Santos? the newspapers scattered around the map?
    -Models just looks bad and their skin lost all the texture, they look like a Fortnite characters and are completely broken in cutscenes.
    -Less music

    I could go on and on for hours, this is insane, its just amateurish and unpolished, I'm still baffled how did go through any quality control. They literally had a complete game to work with, how does one mess up so bad??? I've seen a few cashgrabs but this the worst offender that I have ever seen...    … Expand

    Ужасная оптимизация, испорчена атмосфера игры, лица персонажей мультяшные, ощущение, будто попал в мир симпсонов, баги и вылеты. Это дикий провал Рокстар, а за это они просят 60$. Меня разочаровало отношение компании к фанатам.

    You should learn from other studios, if you can't make something similar to MAFIA definitive edition why spoiling your games like that just to grab more and more money. Every player around the world knows how your studio is becoming greedy more and more. Shame on you

    Если так подумать, то трилогия могла выйти хуже, но и то что вышло нельзя похвалить. Rockstar & Groove street games явно не старались и поторопилось в разработке трилогии, да и цену завысили за это деяние. Не советую покупать трилогию даже по скидке, уж лучше пиратку скачайте и сами убедитесь в плохом качестве и багам трилогии.Если так подумать, то трилогия могла выйти хуже, но и то что вышло нельзя похвалить.     What a joke rockstar, let a better studio remake them. The original versions on PC with a simple texture and resolution mod look better. Honestly people should play those, and install the mods to fix them. Trash studio, trash remaster. You should be ashamed

    Secondly, the remasters don't really look all that great. There are a lot of texture and effects (like ambient occlusion or the rain effect) that are just poorly implemented and look like garbage.     I do like the new reflections and explosions though. Those are great.

    They also didn't improve the gameplay all that much. The combat is still pretty bad and the driving is not much better.

    Finally, I find it unacceptable that they removed the games from my library without even a notice.
    I don't care what you need to fix. I payed for them.

    I will be getting a refund and I strongly suggest you stay away from this garbage.    … Expand

    So I tried just San Andreas on the Xbox box series S since the game is on the pass and I must say that it looks awful. Appaarently Vice city nd GTA III looks dreadful as well so....How can you charge people 60 € for this, Rockstar?

    Hello there, Rockstar did a bad thing , this company assigned Grove Street games to make this remaster ! And also Grove Street games ruined this fantastic and nostalgic series of GTA ..... Lot's of bugs and glitches , not only the past glitches which on old GTA series resolved , but many glitches added ! That was a shame for rockstar games especially CJ's girlfriend face !!

    I bought and downloaded the game. At first I couldn't play because the keyboard didn't work in the game. Reinstalled Windows, but then the servers did not work for almost a day. Definitely a refund. Thanks for the ruined memories.

    no dualshock support. had to download an external software to play a game developed by a AAA company... poorly optimized and clearly sloppily thrown together for a quick cash grab for the holiday season. shame on you rockstar, from a long time supporter this is the reason i will no longer pre order games from rockstar or any other company.

    I’ll start with the problems this trilogy has (and I hope at least some of them will be fixed in the future): 1. Design decisions are pretty questionable. This trilogy is trying to be “cartoony” but there are realistic vegetation models and textures as well as super detailed normal maps. 2. Some environmental    This thing is somewhere on the level of The Room. It’s so bad it’s good.

    I’ll start with the problems this trilogy has (and I hope at least some of them will be fixed in the future):
    1. Design decisions are pretty questionable. This trilogy is trying to be “cartoony” but there are realistic vegetation models and textures as well as super detailed normal maps.
    2. Some environmental models look ok but some have very stretched textures (which can be fixed in 5 minutes by editing the UV map)
    3. 90% of the characters obviously look bad visually and don’t have any details. But I think the main problem here is awful model rigging. Most of the characters look like they were rigged by a beginner.
    4. A lot of the textures were just AI upscaled with no editing. Most of those textures look like a high-res mess. I think upscaling a 256x256 texture up to 1024x1024 is not a good idea.
    5. Vehicle models have increased polygon count. It should be a good thing, right? Well increasing polycount for a 2001 model without adding any details is like increasing polycount for a cube. A cube with 6144 polygons visually is still identical to a cube with just 6 polygons.
    6. Vehicles don’t have a visually working suspension. Most of the cars is just 4 wheels and a floating body. Which is not that bad for a car like Cheetah but not for something like BF Injection. Also a funny thing, BF Injection actually has a modelled suspension but it doesn’t function as it’s supposed to, it’s just “glued” to the car body.
    7. Draw distance is very low for some game objects. For example, cars still appear out of thin air like it was in the original trilogy.
    8. Lack of atmospheric mist. In the original trilogy there was always a fog which masked the actual size of the map so it seemed to a player that maps were bigger than they actually were. Here you can see the whole square map which looks like a small toy.
    9. I’ve also encountered a model with inverted normals... in a 60$ game. I’m talking about a garage door at the Vercetti Estate. It also had a broken origin point so it went through the building when being opened.
    10. Lance model in a cop outfit wasn't updated... yeah.

    But in my opinion there are some things that were done right:
    1. Some models look really good: vegetation, small interior details, some furniture and some outdoor objects.
    2. Some textures weren’t AI upscaled but were redrawn instead. Most of these textures look pretty nice.
    3. Most of the buildings are remade pretty well. Fake interiors make buildings look like actual buildings instead of boxes with texture applied like it was in the original.
    4. Lighting and reflections are undoubtedly very good (even though it kinda breaks the original atmosphere sometimes). But I think you should thank Unreal Engine for this and not really Grove Street Games.

    Conclusion: I personally think that some people worked really hard on this and tried their best (look at the pharmacy in Vice City for example). But a lot of the things here are made very poorly. I feel like it was outsourced to Grove Street Games and they have outsourced a lot of the stuff to other people.    … Expand

    Я лично не понимаю зачем мне платить 4к на компе за переиздание?
    если я могу накататить куча модов и все будет выглядеть намного лучше. И бесплатно.

The bugs are severe, the optimization is terrible, and the game itself is just roughly made. I don't understand how to take about $55 for games that are worse than the existing ones.

    Rockstar dropped the ball on this remaster. The cars and other moving models look like plastic toys and the cities look like polished excrement. The contrast between the environment and the models is horrible and the list of bugs is long and obnoxious. Quality of life changes are the only redeeming part of this remaster that does no favours for fans or newcomers. Skip it until they either fix it or let the moders do their job.

    I cannot currently recommend Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on the PC, and a lot has to happen until I do. The truth is that I've had a decent amount of fun with this remaster; part of it is based on nostalgia, and part of it is based on some ridiculous, unavoidable bugs that weren't as frequent as I'd feared. Given all of these issues and the abysmal performance of the three games on the PC, I'd stay away from the trilogy until several major updates have been released. Even then, this remaster may not be for everyone.

    Overall, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was set up to be one of the best things for GTA fans and it failed to hit that mark. It will now be remembered as a failure to launch title but I am sure Rockstar will step in and continue to fix some items within their game world.
