    Beside those terrible remasters that I prefer to play the old game The game is not optimized at all.

    I used to respect Rockstar and really like the original trilogy games. I was hoping that this remaster would have at least something good. But that's a shame - we got a new Reforged. A complete failure in development. Gameplay mechanics are broken. Pedestrian paths are broken. The visual style is lost. The characters were turned into the freaks and characters of the Simpsons. Why use a newI used to respect Rockstar and really like the original trilogy games. I was hoping that this remaster would have at least something good. But that's a shame - we got a new Reforged.     I kinda like new graphic style, but San Andreas need full remake. I really thought they gonna add at least more smooth animations and hiding behind corners like in GTA V but nope. Remake San Andreas would be easy the best GTA in franchise

    >generally terrible performance for what it is.
    And that's the best entry in the trilogy.

    Vice City suffers from all of the above, and in addition has had a fair chunk of content changed or removed entirely. There's no more Billy Jean right at the start, or any Haitians later on, just to mention a few.
    Driving controls seem to have been changed a bit, but only slightly. Just enough so muscle memory from the old games doesn't entirely transfer 1:1. Cars feel heavier, they slip and slide around and spin out of control just grazing up against the environment. It's also a bit more difficult to fall off a motorbike, leading to some... interesting glitches. Of course, they also suffer from being more slippery and having a wider turning circle, making navigating tight alleys that much more tricky. Boats seem to also have a wider turning circle, make of that what you will.

    San Andreas seems to have suffered the most. Apart from all the basic issues also present in the other two titles, there's a fair amount of removed content, some of which don't make any sense at all and just come off as lazy. As an example, CJ's alternative animation sets have been removed, so fat CJ and buff CJ also use skinny animations. Skill level dependent animations have also been removed, so CJ will always hip-fire assault rifles and turn his head around while reversing, even if shooting and driving skills are maxed out.

    The distance fog effects have been removed from all three games, making the maps look and feel like Fisher Price versions of big, sprawling locales. Fortunately it is possible to turn the render distance down on PC, giving you back maybe a tinge of the sense of scale that the originals had.

    I'm not even going to mention the dumb-looking and out-of-place characters that seem to somehow seem to have less detail now than they did almost two decades ago, or the lack of proper physics despite the Unreal Engine having perfectly serviceable physics right out of the box.

    I had extremely low expectations, and they still weren't met.
    Think I'll stick to the originals with community fixes & mods. Still a massively better experience than this. I'd encourage anyone looking to buy this out there to instead pick up a used disc copy of the OG trilogy, or to go ahead and pirate them, since Rockstar obviously don't want to be making any more money on those, and skip the "Definitive Editions" entirely.    … Expand

    This game is not made by Rockstar, but by GSG. Everything looks cheap, is full of bugs, GTA SA sounds on GTA 3/VC menus, full of bugs, 0 attention to details, the subtitles and the UI looks very ugly, it's like a homework made by a child without any motivation.

I thought was just for me, after i saw all the world was like me. After 3 hours the launcher went off and after 5 hour they remove the game, no detail, no money, no refund.     The rain looks awful to the point where you cannot even see where you are going, as if they forgot to lower the opacity of the rain. I don't think I've ever seen rain look that bad to the point where I've wanted to use the clear weather cheat. The puddles can look even worse.

    There are holes in the geometry, moved poles with their hitboxes still in their original place. Sometimes there's no collision at all. They have simplified and completely destroyed some of the original features, such as sprinting and super sprinting, the gym (you can lift any weight, no matter how weak you are, this is also an old bug from the mobile port of San Andreas that Grove Street Games (previously Wardrum Studios) made.

    There is completely broken game logic, such as cars instantly exploding after 2 seconds, cars that will kill you instantly after a mission or even kill your allies that are required for a mission, the luck stat being broken (hence the huge amount of exploding planes that just randomly kamikaze themselves), invisible cars that will ram into you at top speed and kill you, broken vehicle cameras,

    that destroys your gameplay experience compared to the original. This is NOT the best place to play the trilogy. Get the original copies, or play them on an emulator. Get your money back, if you've bought it. I don't bet that there are some good people that worked on the new DE trilogy, but the game is absolutely broken in it's current state.    … Expand

    Rockstar have literally stolen my money by removing games from my possession and not automatically refunding me.

It's what I'd expect from a 1st year game design student practicing modding in private. The scrap-work someone would produce that hadn't honed any of their skills or worse yet did but were simply to lazy to put in real work. The idea that RockStar saw the workBrazenly bad.     How did this happen? The games seem unfinished at a certain point, I prefer to play the original versions but surprise, they are no longer for sale to make way for this "Definitive Editon" garbage.

The increasing lack of imbalance and frustration shown in GTA Online today and alongside Red Dead Online’s severe lack of updates shown to me that maybe multiplayer games aren’t Rockstar’s strong suit, but after seeing Red Dead Redemption 2’s brilliant campaign; never would have I seen in my life that Rockstar **** up a single player game, a simple remaster at that, so ****ing badly.

    I’ll keep this short: It’s a remaster that looks good on paper and brings back good memories. But it’s programming, some design aspects and the overall launch, are a ****ing steaming pile of dog **** to behold.
    All three games in the trilogy are quite buggy which says something about Rockstar putting their trust in GroveStreet Studios (the people who programmed and quite literally just made these remasters). Not only the bugs but some the side character designs, despite the new and improved models, have the laziest texturing I have ever seen to the point where they look like they have plastic skin. You know just what I mean if you’ve seen that image of one of CJ’s girlfriends.

    It also doesn’t help that the other company that (for some bizarre reason) Rockstar gave power to help run their games, ****-Take2 Interactive, are cracking down on modders and threatening legal action (if modders don’t take down their mods) like never before and I don’t just mean the asshats that put up mod menus for gta online, I mean regular mods that people make for the campaigns of the GTA franchise, you know, single player mods that physically cannot impact others negatively because it’s not online? Yeah ****-Take2 don’t want that because the executives of that company love getting through every legal loophole to have their way against people even when those people practically aren’t doing anything wrong, those people that mod the single player campaigns out of their love and passion to improve it for not only themselves but others?
    Yeah, good luck wanting to improve your copy of the trilogy if that was your plan because you may have to dig deep for a simple mod that fixes a bug that Rockstar didn’t have the competence to fix themselves.

    This launch has only taught dedicated fans one thing and one thing only, that if a company like this expects their fans not to pirate their games, they were extremely stupid to even attempt to remaster this.    … Expand

    This was such a disappointment. I am an old fan of GTA. They ruined the old trilogy, and removed access to the old port that was much much better. The new version is full of bugs and glitches, and the character look horrible. You should allow player to still buy the older versions if they so want.     Rockstar dropped the ball on this remaster. The cars and other moving models look like plastic toys and the cities look like polished excrement. The contrast between the environment and the models is horrible and the list of bugs is long and obnoxious. Quality of life changes are the only redeeming part of this remaster that does no favours for fans or newcomers. Skip it until they either fix it or let the moders do their job.

    I cannot currently recommend Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on the PC, and a lot has to happen until I do. The truth is that I've had a decent amount of fun with this remaster; part of it is based on nostalgia, and part of it is based on some ridiculous, unavoidable bugs that weren't as frequent as I'd feared. Given all of these issues and the abysmal performance of the three games on the PC, I'd stay away from the trilogy until several major updates have been released. Even then, this remaster may not be for everyone.

    Overall, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was set up to be one of the best things for GTA fans and it failed to hit that mark. It will now be remembered as a failure to launch title but I am sure Rockstar will step in and continue to fix some items within their game world.
