games(TM)It's the game's bare-bones approach (card battling, deck editing and very little else) that makes WCT 2004 so damn intriguing. Under the simplistic exterior lies a game so laden with strategy and tactics that it makes our brains hurt just thinking about it. [Apr 2004, p.118]
-
An average card-based game. If you are a big fan of the cartoon series and you collect the cards then you should not be disappointed.
-
A fun little card game, and it holds up well on the GBA. It was a little hard to adjust to since I'm not an avid Yu-Gi-Oh player, but once I got the hang of it, I did find myself enjoying the game quite a bit.
-
The real shame is that the interface designers didn't take more time tightening up the game flow since the last iteration. [May 2004, p.78]
-
Probably the best representation of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game to date. However, as an update to what was a very good game in WWE, it doesnt go as far as it probably should.
-
It's about on par with a video poker machine in terms of graphics and sound. [May 2004, p.108]
-
Touts a few appreciable improvements over the last Yu-Gi-Oh! card battle game for the GBA, which will probably be enough to win the favor of hardcore Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, but casual card battlers who already have one of the other Yu-Gi-Oh! collectible card games for the GBA can safely skip this one without missing too much.
-
Cheat Code CentralSome of the menus have been streamlined and the new cards look great but other than that the game looks identical to last year's game.
-
Like the cartoon series, this installment seems to be made with the same cookie-cutter mold and offers very little innovation or change.
-
Nintendo PowerWith a no-nonsense interface, more than 100 new cards (to bring the total to over 1,100) and new rules for the summer's Yu-Gi-Oh card-battling competition, WCT2004 is the ultimate up-to-date card-playing sim for Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. [May 2004, p.121]
-
netjakBesides the creativity that was put in to add those 100 new cards, this is actually quite a lazy game.
